What Can I Expect While on the Master Cleanse Lemon Detox Diet?
Your body experiences a lot of changes when you embark on a detox diet.  You’ll have some
natural and expected reactions to the detoxification process such as weakness, irritability, fatigue
or headaches for the first few days.  Once you make it over the hurdle though, you’ll feel better
than ever before.

Every Detox diet is different, so there may be different food and drinks that you’ll have and they
each may come with their own side effects.  After a few days, no matter how drastically these
things are changing your diet, your body should adjust to them.  During the first few days, you’ll
usually experience more hunger than you’re used to, especially if the Detox diet you’re on
includes fasting.  If you’re used to certain things like coffee on a daily basis, you may experiences
withdrawal symptoms as well, such as headaches or irritability.  It’s always a good idea to try to
slowly reduce these things before you begin your Detox diet so it’s not a big shock to your body
and to help alleviate some of the symptoms.

“The New Detox Diet” by Elson M. Haas and Daniella Chace talk about the first to the third day of
detoxification.  They explain in great detail how the first few days are the most difficult as you
make your transition and that you will experience some negative side effects like fatigue,
irritability, increased congestion and hunger as a result.  After the third day though, most of the
symptoms subside and people reportedly feel lighter, cleaner and stronger.  They also start to
become familiar with how their bodies respond to everything that they consume.

There’s a handy book entitled “Alternative Medicine, The Defensive Guide” that includes tips from
over 400 doctors on dealing with the detoxification process and reducing some of the side
effects.  There are helpful suggestions such as those to start preparing for cleansing your body
prior to beginning your Detox diet so that you will decrease or eliminate some of the symptoms
that could occur.

Expect to experience a few side effects like headaches, decreased energy, bad breath or body
odor, nausea or constipation, especially during the first few days for a Detox diet.  Just remember
that most of the time these are not permanent and will dissapate after a few days.  You also won’
t crave food so much or experience hunger pains.  Just imagine how much easier it’s going to be
when you’re all done to completely reform your eating habits!
