Is it Dangerous to stay on a Detox Diet Longer Then 10 Days?
The length of time that someone can stay on a Detox diet varies with each Detox diet plan and
depends on the individual. You can undergo a Detox diet for as little as 1 day for up to 10 days, a
month or a lifetime. How long you stay on a Detox diet usually depends on how your body is
responding to the diet and how you feel as well as your level of health and the particular Detox
plan that you are on. There are many Detox diets that are complimented with lots of healthy fruits
and vegetables that can be safe to stay on for as long as you like.
The Master Cleanse diet is one of the most well- known Detox diets. Since it’s initially
recommended for 10 days, people often think that going on a Detox diet for longer than that can
be dangerous. You can actually go on a Detox like the Master Cleanse for longer than 10 days,
but it typically depends on the level of detoxification you need as well as your overall health status
prior to beginning the diet. You’ll want to make sure that you’re familiar with any unusual or
irregular side effects so that you can watch out for them to make sure you’re not on the diet for
too long.
With some Detox diets, you need to strictly adhere to the length of time they suggest that you
follow them. For example, the “Three Day Fruit Flush” plan is one that should be followed for
three days only. The “UltraSimple Diet” by Dr. Hyman is supposed to go on for seven days, so
you shouldn’t go longer than the recommended time if it’s specified like it is with these. There
are others like the “Fast Track Detox Diet” which is 11 days long and “Martha’s Vineyard Detox
Diet” which works best if you follow it for the specified 21 days. If you want to get the desired
results, it’s best to stick to the time period that they specify. There are others that are meant to be
followed for extended periods of time and are safe to follow for as long as you want.
Some people adopt the habits learned from Detox diets and incorporate them into their every day
diets. This is perfectly safe in diets such as raw food diets or organic-only diets, but not if you’re
doing a fasting or purely liquid diet. There’s a great diet discussed by Natalia Rose in “The Raw
Food Detox Diet” which details a five step plan to transform your body into only running off of raw
foods alone. This is a new phenomenon that many health fanatics are running with as a way of
life and is a very healthy way to eat to avoid toxins.
If you have safety concerns about a Detox diet or any other diet plan, just consult your doctor.
They can go over the pros and cons with you to ensure that you’re safe with your chosen plan. It’
s always important to check with your doctor before making any serious lifestyle change or trying
a new diet, and it’s no different with the Detox variety.
